Children Petersburg 2020: online

The Children’s Petersburg project is a large-scale educational and cultural event. Musical, artistic, theatrical and educational events are intertwined each time into a program designed to take the aesthetic education of children around the world to a new level. Thanks to the festival, educational traditions and innovations of St. Petersburg become known abroad. For the first time “Children’s Petersburg” was held in 2010 in Berlin. Since then, the project has traveled to Vienna, Prague, Turin, Rotterdam, Tel Aviv, Madrid and Nice. In 2020, the project will take place online for the first time.

Alexey Smokotov, Director of the International Festival “Children’s Petersburg”:

– This year, oddly enough, allowed us to expand the boundaries in every sense of the word. Online, firstly, it made it possible to cover more territories – now all the events of the festival are available to children from different countries and cities, which has never happened before. Secondly, and this is especially important for us, we are working with an accessible environment for children with disabilities for the first time. Many events of Children Petersburg will be translated into sign language, broadcasts will be accompanied by subtitles, so that each participant can fully enjoy the performances and excursions.

Workshop

December 6 - December 6, 2020
making the puppet for children

At a time when it was impossible to buy a ready-made toy and outfits for it, people made dolls themselves. Especially for making the doll, women laid beautiful ribbons and ribbons – each piece was worth its weight in gold. In the evenings, grandchildren asked their mother or grandmother to tell a story. And a reeled doll, made by hand, without a needle, successfully complemented the story. A prerequisite was not to indicate the face of the doll, since it was believed that through the depicted eyes a spirit (good or bad) enters the doll. Another important rule is to wind the threads counterclockwise. The rest is a matter of the master’s imagination.
